Summer Favorites
It's been a while since my last post, but I couldn't let this glorious summer slip by without a post featuring my favorite products for summer.
Summer is by far my favorite season of the year! As soon as the temperature starts to heat up I break out some of the products that help me get through the warmer months. Here are my top five favorite products for summer:
1.) Nivea Touch of Happiness Body Wash- I always use Nivea body washes, but as soon as the summer hits, I head to my local drug store to pick up a bottle of this happy little scent. The body wash foams into a luxurious lather that deep cleans, while keeping skin super moisturized. It even removes every hint of sunscreen after a long day in the sun. The combination of orange blossom and nourishing bamboo essence smells like a sunny day on the beach... with a fruity cocktail in hand, of course.
2.) Jergens Natural Glow FACE Daily Facial Moisturizer- As I age out of my twenties {ouch!} I am realizing how important it is to protect my face from the harsh rays of the sun. This little tube does double duty! It is a daily moisturizer with SPF 20 to protect your face from regular sun exposure. The best part about this beauty wonder is that it gradually creates a natural color without any sun. For those of us who shy away from self-tanner, this product is totally fool-proof! The cream is white, doesn't stain your hands, and, best of all, it smells pretty good! It keeps my face super protected on days when I wouldn't normally worry about SPF, while still adding natural "sun-kissed color" to my face. Oh, and it's oil-free and non-comedogenic.
3.) Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna- Another super important step to getting a summer glow on your face without the sun is bronzer. There are so many options on the market and so many ways to go wrong. After many years of trying different bronzers, and failing...miserably... I finally found Nars Bronzer in Laguna several summers ago. I've used it every year since. It is the perfect "bronze" color, without the slightest hint of *gasp* orange. The powder has a very fine shimmer, which once applied translates into a subtle healthy glow. The best part is that one compact will last for the whole summer (if not longer).
4.) Organix Hydrating Moroccan Argan Oil Dry Body Oil- This amazing find came to me a year or so ago, courtesy of my mother. I usually shy away from body oil, but this one soaks in so quickly and leaves my skin absolutely glowing. The rich formula contains quickly absorbing Moroccan Argan oil to restore skin's elasticity, sugar cane and willow bark to soften and give a radiant glow, and rice milk and bamboo extract to make skin supple and touchable all over! What is perhaps my favorite feature of this product is the amazing smell. It's hard to even describe, but often I forego my beloved perfume when wearing this oil (it does layer well with other scents though).

5.) Supergoop! CC Cream- Continuing with the theme of summer skincare vs. summer glow, I want to fill you in on my favorite find from this summer! My May Birchbox subscription came with a tiny little surprise. At first, I saw this very small tube and thought no more, tossing it in to my "samples basket". I never gave it another thought, until one day I was heading to spend the day on the lake. As I packed my bag with the sun and fun essentials I realized that I had run out of my go-to face sunscreen! No, No, NO! I quickly rummaged through my basket of unused Birchbox nonsense and came across this little gem. Okay, it was for the face and contained a decent SPF... "this will do" I thought. Well to my surprise, I had stumbled upon, and I repeat, my favorite product find of this summer! Supergoop! CC cream does so much with so little. First of all, CC creams are the new smarter, older sister, to the BB creams of yesterday. The CC stands for "Color Control" or "Color Correct". In my experience CC creams tend to have a bit more coverage than the BB creams, without feeling heavy like foundation. The SPF 35 makes it a great option for both everyday use and for pool/beach days. I love that I can slap some of this product on for a casual beach or pool day without any other makeup and still feel like my skin looks fresh and flawless. I've also tried it as my foundation replacement in the evening after a day in the sun, just add some translucent setting powder and a great bronzer and you are good to go! I could go on and on about this product as you can tell...

I'm Blushing!
Blush is one of the most important steps in a good makeup routine. It frames your face and gives your cheeks a lift. The color of your blush can make all the difference. Most colors are only good on certain complexions. The one blush color I've sworn by for years is Nars Orgasm. It's cheeky name comes from the fact that it gives any face a natural, dewey glow... Hence...well, ya know. It's a gorgeous peachy-pink with a very small gold shimmer. It doesn't read "glittery", just enough shimmer for a natural look. Even better, this blush is great for day or night. I always double up on the coverage for night time drama, of course. No matter the season I find that Nars Orgasm always flatters my skin tone. Ladies, there is nothing better than the perfect color of blush!

Chi touch
I experienced a major loss in December of 2013. My prized beauty possession, my T3 Evolution dryer, died! I had this hair dryer for years, and thought it was the best thing ever. Eventually, I got over the shock, went through the grieving period... and then it was time to figure out a replacement. My hair stylist talked me into buying a Chi Touch, her new favorite dryer. It took me a few days to get used to it, but now I would never go back.
First of all, I am a bit of a "tech geek" so the fact that this dryer's settings are adjusted via touch screen makes it right up my alley. The dryer is not quite as light as the T3, but it packs a lot more power! The touch screen makes it much easier to adjust the settings based on your hair type. There are 3 settings, 1)Heat, 2)Speed, 3)Ions. Once you click on the setting you want to adjust, you just slide the arrow left to right until you find what works best for you. There are literally hundreds of setting combinations. I think my favorite part has to be the Ion setting. I turn that all the way up, of course. It makes my hair shiner, smoother, and definitely helps to dry faster. Ions also help protect your hair from heat damage too! I never thought anything could dry faster than my old...wait, what was it called again? Oh, T3.
In summary, while this is not the lightest dryer on the market, it is the best! It's fast, it gets your hair dry, smooth, and keeps the heat trauma to a minimum. Plus the touch screen is so cool! This is by far the most powerful dryer I've ever used!

Highlighting Concealer
There is nothing worse than bad under-eye circles (darkness, dullness, etc.). There are many products out there to help fix it. One of the most popular under-eye concealers is the YSL Touche Eclat, but at $45-$50 it's not always in everyone's budget. I have finally found a lower priced alternative that can contend with its much pricier cousin. The Maybelline DreamLumi Touch Highlighting Concealer. It gives a nice glow, perfect for the under-eye area and is much lower priced, around $8. It gives the area a more awake, refreshed look. Perfect for touching up later in the day too! While it doesn't seem to last long, it is still worth it for the super budget friendly price.

Back At It!
HELLO WORLD*! After quite the lengthy hiatus I have decided to return to my abandoned blog. After years of working in the beauty industry I learned all kinds of tips and tricks. I try new products frequently and I enjoy being a "go to" for friends and family for the latest beauty tricks, trends, and products. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I LOVE to talk about beauty, products, and more products! Hair, skin, makeup, nails, you name it! My posts will be about different beauty products and tools that I feel are worthy of praise (may throw in a negative review or two as well).
Also, with each item I review I will declare it one of the following: WORTH THE SPLURGE or BARGAIN BEAUTY FIND. I think the meanings are pretty obvious, but to clarify, "worth the splurge" will be for those items that cost a little (or a lot) more, but are worth the extra cash. "Bargain beauty finds" will describe those amazing beauty finds that work like similar, more expensive products, but come with a much lower price tag!
I hope you enjoy and please feel free to post any comments, questions, or requests!!!!
*or the three friends that will actually read this ;)
